Officials Deny Misleading Claims
Pakistani security officials have dismissed reports from Indian media about Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir’s recent meeting with Pakistanis living in the United States. They said the way Indian outlets presented his remarks was misleading and politically motivated.
Army Chief’s Official Visit to the US
The army chief is currently in the United States on an official trip. He has met senior US military leaders and members of the Pakistani community there. Security officials said that some Indian media selectively quoted his words to make it look like he was making aggressive or jingoistic comments, which they called completely untrue.
Remarks Taken Out of Context
A senior security official said the claims were taken out of context and changed to fit a certain agenda. He added that all meetings during the visit were carried out professionally.
Political Context Behind the Reports
Officials linked the misleading coverage to recent political developments. They pointed out that US President Donald Trump’s decision to raise tariffs on Indian products has embarrassed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, which is already facing pressure from political opponents at home.
Attempt to Create Controversy
They also said the Indian media’s narrative seems aimed at creating unnecessary controversy during the army chief’s visit. According to them, this comes after what they described as India’s recent setbacks in military exchanges with Pakistan. Officials called it part of a larger pattern of false stories and propaganda against Pakistan’s military leaders.
